Sydney Adventure Kayak Tour

Duration: 3.5 hours (Half Day)

Cost: $150 per person if joining others in a group of more than three people. $500 for a private tour for 2 people.

This tour is suitable for intermediate levels of fitness or kayaking. It is suitable for beginner kayakers but you need to have a good fitness level.

The tour may be 3.5 hours long but with the high quality kayaks and paddles used, we paddle further than equivalent tours of this length or more. It involves a stop and some relaxation and is fine for people with a good level of fitness regardless of kayaking ability.  For those with experience, it will be no problem at all but you will deserve a big lunch afterwards and a relaxing afternoon!

This tour includes professional instruction on how to paddle correctly, all kayaks and safety equipment (choice of single or double Australian made lightweight kayaks and high quality carbon paddles), a qualified and experienced guide, a bottle of water each, refreshments (fresh seasonal fruit and home-made coconut macaroons), and photos of the experience, including some in front of the Sydney Opera House as well as the secluded beach we travel to. The highlight of this trip is not only the Sydney Opera House but the challenge of crossing the harbour on a kayak, something not many can say they have done, as well as arriving at a beautiful, quiet beach away from the hustle bustle of city life (it is hard to believe you are actually in a city!) then crossing back with magnificent views of the city, Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House.

TOUR INFORMATION

OzPaddle Sydney City tours start at our meeting point underneath Andrew Boy Charlton pool, near the Domain/Botanical Gardens. From here, we paddle past the naval ships at Garden Island, around the domain with stunning views to Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. From here, we paddle to the Opera House (this is the closest you will be able to get on the water side). The view never ceases to amaze. After a paddle around Farm cove, we either head back or, for the longer tour, we either cross the harbour to a secluded beach or paddle towards Clark Island (depending on wind direction) where we relax and have some refreshments before heading back to the Andrew Boy Charlton Pool where you can shower and perhaps grab a coffee or some more food at the great cafe there.

OzPaddle Rose Bay tours start from our meeting point at the corner of New South Head Road and Vickery Avenue (opposite Rose Bay RSL club). From here, we paddle to Nielsen Park, stopping off at secluded harbour beaches on the way including a visit to historic Strickland House with fantastic views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. At Nielsen Park, there is a kiosk with additional food/coffee if you want to purchase something. Weather dependent, we stop at one of the beaches for a swim and also paddle to Shark Island. You will be amazed at the peace and tranquility which can be found.

Guided tours are available daily subject to weather (early mornings are best due to less wind).

Tours are suitable for beginners to experienced kayakers.
